- Description
- Many years ago humans built enclosed spaces in which were for living safely and being protected from the weather and any other danger. These first enclosed spaces provided the protection and safety, however a paradox also existed, that is, a need for having fresh air and light inside the space. Made by one of the most readily available material sand, glass opens up a new era in modern architecture towards transparent structures, which allow natural light to enter buildings and on other hand open up the natural landscapes to end-users inside. In this paper, I present a conceptual history of the use and the role of glass in contemporary architecture by illustrating the examples from all over the world.
